This assessment is most often completed by the school principal in collaboration with the business manager/clerk and technology personnel. |

| The Basic TAGLIT assessment consists of questions that were developed at the University of North Carolina Center for School Leadership Development and later adopted by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for implementation in its State Technology Challenge Grants awarded to schools in all 50 states. This version of TAGLIT has been available to schools since 2000.
The School Leader Basic TAGLIT assessment is divided into the following 10 sections:

- Section 2: The Planning Process (Questions 5-12)
- Section 3: The Planning Document (Questions 13-26)
- Section 4: Technology Resources - Hardware (Questions 27-35)
- Section 5: Technology Resources - Software and Electronic/Online References (Questions 36-40)
- Section 6: Technology Resources - Technology and Instructional Support (Questions 41-48)
- Section 7: Technology Policies (Questions 49-55)
- Section 8: Technology Funding - Revenue (Questions 56-64)
- Section 9: Technology Funding - Expenditures(Questions 65-72)
- Section 10: Technology-Related Community Connections (Question 73-76)
